Saint-Louis Matrice Wall Sconce

Inspired by the warehouse that stores moulds and casts, Kiki van Eijk (a designer from the Eindhoven Academy) wanted to shine a light on these tools from which all of Saint-Louis creations originate. She gave every object in the Matrice collection the unique shape of a mould, adorning each one with the handcut elements that are the signature style of the company. The Matrice collection expands with two different models of small lightings: the small table lamp and the small sconce IP44. Saint-Louis is the oldest glass manufacturer in France, with roots dating back to the XVIth century. Since 1829 the manufacture has been exclusively devoted to the production of crystal-glass items, every day crystal creations crafted by master glassblowers and cutters considered to be among the very best in France. All possess irreplaceable knowledge and ancestral skills: crystal is mouthblown, hand-cut, hand-engraved and hand-decorated using 24-carat gold or platinum. Saint-Louis blends tradition and innovation and never ceases to draw inspiration from contemporary artistic trends in order to renew and shape its identity. In the wave of creativity that swept through the early 20th century, between Art Nouveau and Art Deco, external designers brought their talents to bear at Saint-Louis. Today, Saint-Louis Crystal still creates products that exude understated elegance and modern sensibility.
